"Mindfulness"
November 15th, 2010
I got my hands on a leaflet this week, produced by the Mental Health Foundation, that said there is a technique called "mindfulness" that is clinically proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression, and involves meditation, breathing, yoga and awareness of emotions. They are campaigning to widen access to courses and resources that teach this technique, and to raise awareness of this tool that can apparently make a huge difference to many people with lives impacted by mental health issues. Their website is www.bemindful.co.uk.
Somehow I have lived in total ignorance of this whole thing, and my question is, does anyone have first hand experience of mindfulness? Did it help? Is it compatible with Christian spirituality?

Martin~ May 22nd, 2011 ~ 22:05Hi Jo, hope your holiday was good! :) In my CBT recently I was introduced to mindfulness, and I've found it really helpful already. I'd say it's definitely compatible with Christian spirituality, even though I think it has its roots in Buddhism(?). I think it's definitely worth looking into anyway.:)
