A Different Kind of Summer?

March 26th, 2011

I have been sitting here trying to think of a way to slip in an ad for Regent Summer School, as though it had occured to me while typing away about something else.  My blog is not usually "for hire" so to speak, but when I had an email from Regent's Digital Marketing Co ordinator, I jumped at the chance to blow the Regent trumpet.  So I am coming clean and playing it straight, and doing a bit of advertising.  This is partly because it is wretchedly early and the girls are watching Fireman Sam and I can't think clearly enough to come up with a more natural tie in, and partly because I LOVE REGENT! And I am grateful on a daily basis for what I learnt there, and who I became (Mrs Swinney among other things!), and how draw-droppingly beautiful the backdrop to the whole thing was.

Regent College is where I did my masters in Christian Studies.  It is on the campus of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.  Every summer they run condensed courses, between a week and three weeks long, and people come from all over the world to invest some time and money and brain power into their faith- the wisest use of resources possible in my opinion.   Alongside the opportunities for study are concerts,  evening lectures, retreats, and opportunities to hang out with the professors, and of course there are the beaches, mountains and rainforests to explore too.

All the info for this year is at www.summer.regent-college.edu.  And if you get there, make sure you go to Grounds for Coffee on Alma and have a cinamon bun in my honour.

If you get on the Gardening and the City of God course you will even get to meet my amazing sis and brother-in-law. Aaagh. So very jealous of them (in an acceptable Christian way of course!!)

Lol! I'm jealous of you even having been there! No chance I would ever get to go.... jealous in the acceptable christian way of course :-)
Sounds delightful; there's no shame in plugging something so good!
