Little Girl Growing Up

September 6th, 2010

My little Alexa started at preschool today.  We walked up the road with her carrying her packed lunch in a rucksack on her back (a pink one naturally) and talked about what might happen during her day.  She was calm and happy about the whole thing.

I am a bit wobbly.  I have been looking forward to this moment, but now it has arrived, I would rather keep her close for a while longer.  Not that she particularly wants to be kept close.  She and her friend James did a runner the other day, apparently with the intention of going blackberry picking.  They escaped out of the garden, bare foot and in dressing up clothes (pirate and fairy respectively) and made it half way up the hill on the next road over.  So maybe she is ready for some independence, in the well supervised nursery environment at any rate.

I think I know how you feel - but a few years on! After home educating all 4 daughters the past 16 years, my youngest has gone to college today! I think I feel like you :-)
Howwever, I have been preparing for this moment and have set up my own home ed consultancy. I am hoping to make a living at helping others enjoy the journey I have had ( I hope theirs is minus the two divorces mind you!!) and help them home educate with confidence.
I think if you click my name the web site should come up I believe. Hope your lovely little one Alex gets the chances she needs to explore the blackberries and you get some special time with Charis!
