Unexpected Niceness
April 17th, 2012
Okay everyone, I have to come clean and confess I have had a
bit of an emotional wobble over the last few weeks; not a major depressive
episode, not full of the joys of spring either.
But Shawn, Alexa, Charis and I have just got home after ten days away
during which lots of unexpected and cheering kinds of things happened:
-I was given a bunch of flowers for no reason
-the house we were staying in (in the large garden of some
friends) had a fire and it was cold enough to justify lighting it every night
-I rode- rather slowly- around a field on a quad bike
-We cooked sausages for lunch over a fire IN A TREE HOUSE!!
-Shawn and I went out for dinner one night, and when we came
to pay the bill, the manager said the Easter Bunny had taken care of it
-We collected eggs from some free ranging chickens. The cockerel attacked me which wasn't such a
cheering thing, but it was unexpected, so I have included it in my list.
-I built a really rather snazzy igloo-style den in the woods
with the girls
-Alexa and I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and
she totally got it
-I went running along a disused railway line, had an Easter
day bike ride, walked along a sea wall, bounced a lot on a huge trampoline and
climbed red rocks at the beach. All this
exercise only partially offset my unusually high chocolate consumption, but
back at Slimming World now, so no need to panic.
-I saw two thirds of my siblings, a friend from primary
school days, a university friend who I haven't seen since she sang at my
wedding, a lovely lady who lived with my family in Portugal when we first moved
there, and a smattering of other important people.
-I got to look around the house I lived in when I was five
- I saw a diver feeding sharks in a tank at the Blue Planet Aquarium
Has anything nice and unexpected happened to you lately? If
so, do tell...
